Fuzzy?

If you are off track in meeting your stated goals, it could be because your goals are not clearly defined. You could also be doing too many things that are unrelated in an attempt at “hedging” your bets.

Hedging your work is a form of hiding. Hedging your work also dooms you to become a jack of all trades and master of none. Most “jacks” don’t make a lot of money… the “masters” do.

Having poorly defined goals, is also a form of hiding. After all, if you have not clearly outlined your goals, it is difficult for you or anyone else to judge if you are failing (or succeeding) and why… And if no one can see what’s going on, how can you be accountable?

Have a clear goal, not a fuzzy one.

  1. Keep it as simple as possible.
  2. Clarify to yourself what your goal is.
  3. Lay out the path to get there.
  4. Track your steps.
  5. Check your progress.

Having a fuzzy goal is the same as having no goal at all.
