You can easily make a Siri Shortcut to call the cops if you want. This might come in handy in our current age where everyone either has VOIP with crappy 911 service or is cutting the cord…
Plus it can’t hurt to have yet another way to get the cops to come if you need them… In this case you can just summon Siri and say:
Call the cops!
Step 1:
Tap the Shortcuts App on your homescreen and tap “Create Shortcut”. Then on the next screen scroll up from the bottom to find the phone number option.
Step 2:
Tap the “Phone Number” option. Then either tap the “+” sign to use a phone number from your address book or just type in the phone number you want Siri to call.
Step 3:
If you tap the “+” sign, your address book will appear. Just choose the phone number you want. It will appear under the “Phone Number” to call in the shortcut window. You can add multiple numbers to call if you want to by adding more numbers using the “+” sign.
Then tap the “Settings” icon to access additional options.
Step 4:
In “Settings” you can change the name of the shortcut to “Call the Cops”.
Step 5:
In “Settings” you can also change the icon for “Call the Cops” by choosing a “glyph” and choose any color you want for the icon, or you can take a photo, or use a photo from your photo album.
Step 6:
In “Settings” you can add the Shortcut to Siri by tapping “Add to Siri”. Then just tap the red record button and say the phrase you want to use, such as “Call the Cops”, with the Shortcut.
Step 7:
Then you can add the Shortcut to your home screen if you want.
