HODL is a deliberate mispelling of the word “hold“. It is also an acronym for “Hold On for Dear Life“. The first use of HODL happened on December 18, 2013, at 10:03:03 AM on a Bitcoin forum called Bitcointalk. Example of use: “The HODL 10 Cryptocurrency Fund from Bitwise has had a 2,497.5% return this year!”
